Treat of the Week: NatGeo Mapmaker Interactive

NatGeo Mapmaker Interactive is an online tool that allows students to investigate how human and environmental factors interact.  Rather than having present layers that show how one factor influences another, students can choose to add the layers that are most interesting to them.  This tool encourages students to ask questions and experiment to find relationships.

Once students have created a map that they feel shows a meaningful relationship, they could take a screenshot of their map and import it into Shadow Puppet, SeeSaw, or Explain Everything to record their thinking about why they selected those particular layers and what relationships they see.
